Happy Hump Day, Friends!!
Today I'm sharing some fun Valentine crafts that the girls and I put together. They are simple, kid friendly and super duper cute. And in an effort to hold myself accountable for doing more crafty things like this for myself and for the kids, I'm adding a link up to the bottom of this post so that each of you can join along each Wednesday of the week and share any type of craft, DIY project, a recipe or any how-to project's you're working on. Feel free to link up an old post or two this week and maybe try something new for next.
{I'll hopefully have a button ready for next week}
VALENTINE CARD
You will need:
- construction paper or a canvas (we used red construction paper)
- paint (we used white crayola washable paint)
- black marker
Simply paint your childs hands and have them create a heart shaped print at the top of the paper.
Next, paint one of their feet (be careful - if they are anything like my girls, their feet are very ticklish and they will wiggle and squirm) and make a foot print towards the bottom of the paper.
Once the paint is dry, use the black marker to write "from the bottom of my heart....to the tips of my toes...I love you!"
I had the girls each write the I love you part at the bottom and then they signed their names.
CUPCAKE LINER CARDS/FLOWERS
You will need:
- cup cake liners (we got ours at the dollar store (valentine themed) and in 2 different sizes, one package of large and one package of medium)
- valentine embellishments (again, we picked up a few packages at the dollar store that contained felt hearts and cupids)
- construction paper
- markers or crayons
- glue/glue stick
I let the girls be as creative as they wanted with this project and let their imaginations run wild.
Lilli glued the medium liners inside the larger ones and added some embellishments in the middle. Then she wrote a sweet message to her sister and all of our names.
Alexa paired the large and medium liners as well, and wrote words in the center of each one to create a message..."love is true and happy"
I loved that they could express their creativity...which led them to making these lovely little cupcake liner flowers...
The liners came with some little heart shaped cupcake topper sticks, so the girls stuck them through the liners and voila, valentine flowers. We stuck them in some yarn wrapped vases that are in our entryway.
HEART GARLAND
You will need:
- colorful paint samples
- needle
- thread/string/yarn (I used red/white baker's twine)
I raided the paint section at Home Depot and gathered a bunch of random colorful paint sample cards.
I traced a hearts on each one and cut them out, so they were the same size. Then, I took some of my bakers twine and threaded the hearts through, creating a pretty and festive garland for my pallet shelves.
TOILET PAPER STAMPS
You will need:
- toilet paper roll
- washable paint
- construction paper/canvas
Simply make an indentation in your toilet paper roll in the shape of a heart and let your kiddos go wild stamping hearts.
You could put them in a frame or fold them in half and make a valentine card for a loved one.
Don't forget to link up your favorite craft, recipe or DIY project!
