Welcome to another edition of What We Made Wednesday!!
In celebration of Dr. Seuss's Birthday on Friday, the girls and I made some Dr. Seuss inspired projects this week, including a Dr. Seuss themed dinner.
Green Eggs and Ham is one of our favorite Dr. Seuss books, so it's rather fitting to include this in our meal. The girls LOVED to add green food coloring to their scrambled eggs. Lilli got a little carried away, so they ended up a really dark shade of green.
We also included a Cat in the Hat inspired fruit kabob, with strawberries and bananas.
The girls didn't like the idea of 'green' ham, so we just added some ham and cheese to a smaller toothpick for some ham and cheese kabobs. My kids eat just about anything 'kabob' style.

THING ONE - THING TWO
You will need:
- red, blue & white washable paint
- paintbrush
- white construction paper
- popcycle stick or wooden kabob
- black marker or crayon
Step 1: Paint the palm of your child's hand with red paint and all of their fingers, except for their middle finger.
Step 2: Press their hand on the white piece of construction paper, creating the 'body' of the Things. {thumb and pinkie are their arms and pointer and ring finger are their legs}
- wash hands
Step 3: Paint all 5 fingers blue {just their fingers, not their palm} and press finger above the body, creating the Things' hair.
- wash hands
Step 4: With the black marker/crayon, draw the Things face.
Step 5: Paint a medium sized circle in the middle of the Things body. Once dry, paint or draw the number's 1 & 2.
Step 6: Once your Things are dry, cut them out and tape a wooden stick or kabob to the back.
CAT IN THE HAT - HATS
You will need:
- red and white construction paper
- tape or glue
- skinny headband
Step 1: Cut a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of red construction paper in half. Roll and tape/glue the 1/2 piece of paper into a cylinder.
Step 2: Cut 1/2" strips of white construction paper. Glue or tape the white strips around the cylinder. We used about 3 strips.
Step 3: Cut a circle from your red construction paper a little bit larger than the cylinder, to create the brim of the top hat. Tape or glue to the 'hat'.
Step 4: Poke a hole through the middle of the brim and thread the skinny headband through. It will seem a little wobbly, but once your child put it's on their head it will balance and become a little more sturdy.
Step 5: Take a picture of your cute little Cat in the Hat's and their Things.
What have you made lately?
