Alexa and Lillian's flat me's have made an appearance in New York, visiting our friends from The Ish Blog, but they had to go back for a very special trip to visit their Auntie Andrea!! They could not have been more excited for this trip and as you can imagine they did not want to leave. Andrea was such a fabulous tour guide and showed them sites that they will never forget. We cannot wait for a {real life} trip to New York some day.
ALEXA AND LILLI IN THE CITY!!!!!
Alexa and Lillian are back on the East Coast but this time it was
a trip they would never forget!
The girl’s started their trip when they arrived in Brooklyn, one
of the five boroughs of the New York City area. The five boroughs include
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island. When in Brooklyn
they kindly knocked on the door of their auntie Andrea’s apartment.
How surprised I was to see my two favorite girls in
the world! I welcomed my sweethearts in and showed them around my apartment.
They had a cozy place right on my desk to anxiously await our New York
adventure. It was hard for them to catch a wink of sleep, thinking
about the fun day we had ahead of us!
I knew the exact places I wanted
to take the girls. Our first stop was the MTA New York City Subway. A little history
on the famous Subway system is that it is one of the oldest and most
extensive public transportation systems in the world! It has over 468
stations in operation to this day throughout the boroughs and an average
of 5.3 million rides per week!
Here are the girls at Nostrand Avenue
station located in Brooklyn. We are waiting for the train to head to
Manhattan!
When we arrived in Manhattan our first stop was right next to the
Empire State Building one of New York City’s most famous landmarks!
The girls could not believe how tall it was! In fact it is the third
tallest building in the US and gets its name from New York being the
Empire State.
We were on to the next stop - this time for a little more activity!
The girls have grown up around ice rinks, so what would be more special
then to go ice-skating in the middle of the famous Bryant Park. Bryant
Park is part of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation
and next to Central Park it is one of the most densely populated Urban
parks in the world!
Up next was a New York City landmark that could not be missed, Times Square!
The girls were in awe at the bright lights and seas of people! Times
Square otherwise known as “The Crossroads of the World” sees millions
of New Yorkers and traveler’s alike daily! Not to mention where over
1 million people gathered to ring in the 2013 New Years Eve celebration. As you can see, the girls might have been having a little too
much fun…
When we got off the train we were at a magical place
just for children - the famous FAO Schwarz toy store! FAO Schwarz, founded
in 1862, is the oldest toy store in the United States. The company is
known for its unique high-end toys, life-sized stuffed animals, dolls,
and games. This FAO Schwarz store on Fifth Avenue in New York City is
a popular tourist destination, and has iconic status for its floor piano, cameos in major motion pictures, and real-life
toy soldiers.
As I am sure you can guess the girls found EXACTLY where they wanted
to be in the store!
The girls were in HEAVEN and to top it off they were able to join
a few new friends on the world famous Big Piano.
Once I was able to drag the girls out of the store we took one last
photo to wrap up our trip! And what better place then next to the big
“Apple!”
Auntie Titi is anxiously awaiting their
next trip back to The City (hopefully in human form this time)!
A huge thank you to mu SIL for taking the girls on a glamorous trip around the Empire State...WE LOVE YOU!

How special for the girls to experience that. Their auntie looks like a blast. And so does the doorman at FAO Schwartz. ;)
