This Weekend....

This Weekend....

Friday nights after Alexa's gymnastics, we usually order pizza and watch a movie - but, now that American Idol has started we'll instead watch that off the DVR.  I have to say to say we are less than impressed with the new judges.  Keith Urban can stay, but the others...need.to.GO!  Is anyone else's Idol experience being ruined by the judges this year?

Saturday I woke up not feeling well.  I tried to ignore the symptoms all day...the chills, the aches..ect., but inevitably I had a little bug and pretty much laid around all day.  Such a bummer, being I had so much to do.  Luckily, after a good night sleep, I woke up on Sunday feeling so much better and got a lot more accomplished.

We brought the girls to Sunday school, Adam and I went on our usually Sunday morning breakfast date and then went to church after the girls were done with class.

This Weekend....

My parents came down on Sunday to help watch the girls on Monday while Adam and I had to work and were also a tremendous help setting up the MLK event at Adam's park Sunday afternoon/night.  We spent 7 hours getting things ready for the big event on Monday, but it was kinda fun since we were all together and helping.  However, mine and my Mom's fingers are nearly raw and sore from tying over 100 balloons.

My Mom also helped Alexa with some of her fashion designing.  Alexa designed this lovely skirt and my Mom helped her sew it together.  Cute, huh?

Monday was MLK Day.  I worked for a short time in the morning and then joined my parents and the girls at Powderhorn Park (where my husband works) for their big celebration.  It was fun to see all the hard work we had put in the night before was used and enjoyed by so many wonderful people from the community.

There were so many arts and crafts set up around the rec center, the girls had a blast coloring pictures of Martin Luther King Jr. , making dreams of their own and eating the delicious meal that was provided.

The entertainment was fantastic.  So many different cultures were present and they all sang, danced and performed so well.

My mom, dad and Alexa even took part in an African drumming lesson.

After the celebration, my parents took us to the pizza ranch.  We normally would have gone to a second MLK celebration in Minneapolis, but it was so cold out (-8 degrees) and we were so exhausted, that we just decided to stay in, take a bubble bath and then watched movies until we fell asleep.

We took a few minutes between movies to get some sillies out...and took pictures of ourselves.  My IG caption was :: "If I loved these girls any more, I'd explode."  And it's so true.  They are my entire world.

How did you celebrate Martin Luther King's Birthday?

Wow, it sure looks like you had a very busy but fun-filled MLK Day Weekend. I wish I could say we partook in similar events, but we seemed to have the same bug hit our house for a few days, which kept us recuperating indoors. I love Alexa's skirt!

We laid around and enjoyed having the day off on Monday - it was too cold to do anything else!!!

I haven't watched AI in years - that show really has gone downhill!

We watch AI but just as something to listen to while playing with Aubrey... I too am NOT a fan of the judges... Nikki drives me insane and that little catfight between her and Mariah needs to stop.

I love Alexa's skirt! So cute!

I used to big a huge AI fan...I watched like the first 8 seasons, but then stopped when Simon left. Not because he left, but I felt like the show was taking up too much of my life (like when it's on 3x week! ha!) Glad you didn't get more sick than you did! Looks like you had lots of fun with your mom :)
