A-Z of ME!

Hey friends....

I've been such a horrible blogger lately - I went from posting every single day to maybe twice a week.  Sorry about that - I plan on getting into a better blog routine soon.  Oh, and if you're here for my usual Thursday giveaway - please come back next week, there will be some good ones!  I promise.

Lately, some of my favorite bloggers have been posting a list A-Z of themselves.  I usually don't do much of these kinds of posts, but I found that after reading through them on other blogs, it helped me get to know the blogger better and on a different level.  I usually post about my kids..ect.  So, now I'm going to share a little about ME!

AGE = 30!  I know you're all wondering how I feel about that and my simple response is...it's just a number.  I've decided that rather than dwelling on the fact that I'm now a 30-something rather than a 20-something - I'm going to embrace it and enjoy the hell out of my 30's.

BED SIZE = King!!  Adam and I usually end up with one or both of the kids in our bed at some point in the night and the dog, too.  Anything smaller than a king and I'd never get a good night sleep.

CHORE YOU HATE = I love doing laundry, the washing, drying and folding part is great, but the putting away is a total drag.  I've been known to just leave piles of folded clothes on the floor throughout the week.  So yeah, I guess I'd say the chore I hate is putting clothes away.

DOGS = We promised our girls that once we moved out of our townhouse and had a house and yard of our own that we'd get them a puppy.  They never forgot this!!! ....and keeping up on our promise we got a mini daschund 3 months after we moved into our home.  His name is Chip or Chipper. :)

ESSENTIAL START TO YOUR DAY =  Having a few minutes of ME time, which is literally about 3 minutes every morning.  As soon as Alexa hears the shower, she's awake and joins me in the bathroom to tell me all about the dream she had, the One Direction video she watched or some sort of 2nd grade drama going on at school.  She talks a mile a minute, which is something I love about her....but, those few minutes of silence is a crucial part of my morning routine.

FAVORITE COLOR = I always answer "pink" when I'm asked this question.  But, really I have so many favorite colors and color combinations.  I'm really into mustard yellow and navy blue, I like grey and teal, purple, red...you name it.  I tend to wear a lot of black in the winter time, but I'm working on bringing some more color to my wardrobe.

GOLD OR SILVER =  Definitely Silver.  My wedding ring is silver and it just seems odd to pair a bunch of gold with it.  I'm not suuuper fashionable, but I know the gold/silver combo is kinda in.  But, really I just prefer silver.

HEIGHT = 5' 4"

INSTRUMENTS YOU PLAY = I played the flute from 5th grade until senior year in high school.  I can sorta plunk away at a few songs on the piano, too.  Nothing fancy, tho!

JOB TITLE = Office Manager.  I work for a company that imports a line of plumbing tools from Germany and distributes them throughout the United States.  It sounds kinda like a big thing, but really we're a pretty small company.  I work with 4 other people on a regular basis and a few temps as needed.  To be honest, it's not my ideal job {sitting in front of a computer all day} and I probably know more about tools than the average woman.  I'm hoping to be able to cut back my hours once Lilli starts school so that I can be home with the girls when they get off the bus.

KIDS = SURPRISE....I have 2 daughters, Alexa {age 8} and Lillian {age 5}.  I bet you didn't know that! haha

LIVE = I'm not really sure what this is asking??  My first thought was Live, Laugh, Blog!! But, then I thought maybe it meant, where do you live, in which case...Farmington, Minnesota!

MARRIED = I've been married to my best friend, Adam, for 8 1/2 years.  Still very much as happy and in love as the day we met! {cheezeball alert!!}

NICKNAMES =   Ugh, seriously?  This would be a cool question if in fact I had some cool nicknames, but yeah...I don't.  My dad calls me Beavis....as in Beavis and Butthead.  Yeah!  My mom and grandma Katie call me, Dolly.  My aunts call me Kitty or Kit-Kat.  My brother Ben calls me Dawnski.  My brother Geoff calls me Flarv (don't even ask....cuz I don't know how the hell that got started....but, he got all his friends who I pretty much had crushes on all while growing up to call me that - total middle school NIGHTMARE}.

OVERNIGHT HOSPITAL STAYS = I'm going to TRY to make this short.  Besides the obvious, giving birth - I did have some medical drama back when I was a freshman in high school.  I went through this little stint where I would pass out multiple times in a row.  My doctor at the time thought that I was having teenage girl anxiety and was anorexic.  Some time passed and I came down with a horrible case of the flu/mono that was going around our school - my parents took me back to the doctor {a different one} who basically said I had what everyone else had that was going around and needed it to run its course.  BUT, he looked back on my history of fainting and wanted to do more testing.  I was in and out of doctors appointments and had every kind of test/scan imaginable.  I ended up in Merit Care in Fargo and was diagnosed with Hodgkins Disease, a lymphoma cancer.  Obviously, me and my family were devistated, but remained positive.  I was granted a wish through the Make a Wish Foundation, which kinda kept me distracted - thinking about the possibilities.  BUT, after not one but two biopsies I quickly became that 1% miracle you seldom hear about.  I had been misdiagnosed and instead of having cancer, I had a very very rare fungal infection called hystoplasmosis.  The fainting spells were caused by this grapefruit size infection in my chest (they thought was the cancer) that was cutting off blood flow from my heart to my brain.  I was on a high dosage of some very strong medication for 6 months to clear my body of this infection and haven't had any problems since.  This is really the short of it all - with a lot of things that happened in between - but, I'm not going to bore you with all the details - I could literally write a book.

PET PEEVE = People who are full of themselves.  Come off your high horse and join reality - k?  And when my husband leaves his closet door open.....all..the..time.

QUOTE = "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened".  I need to remind myself of this quite a bit.  I sometimes get really sad about my kids growing up so fast when really I should be thinking of how blessed I am that they are healthy little girls that continue to grow.  Recently Lilli has become quite the little reader....and I quickly have to push back the tears because my BABY...is READING....and instead think - wow, I've provided this child with the ability to sound out each letter that form a word.  I'm not going to cry that the 'baby days' with my kids are over, but instead smile because I can cherish each and every new beginning with them.  I'm not really sure if this is what this quote is meant for....but, I'm going with it.

RIGHTY OR LEFTY = Righty

SIBLINGS =  I have 3 brothers.  Geoff {32}, Ben {24} and Tiny {aka Danny} {22}.

TIME YOU WAKE UP =  Usually between 6-6:30am on weekdays and 7-8:30am on weekends.  We were blessed with kids who are really good sleepers.  They don't fuss about going to bed and will sleep in on the weekends.

UNIVERSITY ATTENDED = I went to Brown College in Mendota Heights and have a degree in Radio Broadcasting.  I was a DJ for 3 years.

VEGGIES YOU DISLIKE = I pretty much eat whatever - so I don't dislike many things.  But, you'll probably see me pick out the red and yellow peppers out of any dish.

WHAT MAKES YOU RUN LATE = I'd have to say that I'm pretty punctual, but if I'm ever late it's because I have a terrible sense of direction and can get turned around sometimes if I'm not familiar with the area.

X-RAYS YOU'VE HAD = See over night hospital stays above - there were a few x-rays through that whole process.

YUMM FOOD =  I tease my husband sometimes that half the reason I married him was because he's Mexican and cooks the best Mexican food I've ever had.  But, serrrrsly..it's sooo good.  He won me over with his shrimp enchiladas.

ZOO FAVORITE ANIMAL = Monkeys and the giraffes.

Well, wasn't that fun?  Kind of a quirky get-to-know-you kinda post, huh?  Maybe you learned some things about me, maybe you didn't.  If you wanna play along, leave a comment with the link to your post.  I'm just dying to know....how tall ARE you...and really, what IS your favorite zoo animal??  ;)
