Mak3 Activewear creates innovative and stylish ready-to-wear, custom-designed gymnastics leotards and shorts that are comfortable, durable and will make you the envy of your gym. Whether it's for recreational or competitive, individual or teams, Mak3 delivers.
You all know that Alexa and Lillian are both actively involved in gymnastics. Alexa is on a training team that practices 5 hours a week and Lillian is feeling things out in a preschool class - wanting to follow in her big sisters foot steps. So, as you can imagine, I spend a lot of time sitting in the lobby watching many gymnasts of all ages. My biggest pet-peeve is watching the girls spend half their time pulling at their leotards because they are riding up the back side. Ha!
I was so excited that Kerri from Mak3 Activewear offered to send a leotard for each of my girls to try, along with a matching hair scrunch.
She was so kind to let them select their favorite one from her vast collection.
Not surprising at all - Lillian chose the bright pink Electra leotard (her favorite color) and Alexa chose a Purple version of the Blue By You.
Right away I knew the leotards were different than the ones that the girls have wore in the past. Just by taking a quick look and feel, I noticed that the fabric was thick and durable and the bottom area was low cut to prevent those awful 'wedgies". (thank goodness!)
All Mak3 leotards and shorts are made using only the best 4-way stretch materials with beautiful embellishments unique to Mak3. Their activewear has been designed and tested for durability, performance and comfort with no-ride seats and a generous length so you can say BUH-BYE to wedgies for good.
Alexa and Lillian have received so many fabulous compliments on their Mak3 leotards. Mostly they like the design and how well fitted they are around the chest/shoulders and bottom area. I also really like the fact that the bright pink print of Lilli's leo makes her stand out - I can always spot her right away in the gym.
It seems as tho Alexa lives in her leotards and she has only great things to say about her Mak3 leo. It's comfortable, stylish and I don't see her adjusting it at all during practice (such a huge deal to me!)
Kerri Masseo is the founder, co-owner and chief creator at Mak3 Activewear. Over the years, with a life-long love of all things creative, she's transitioned from design school in college, to GM at a cutting- edge retail fashion chain store and through all the wonder of being a parent of a budding gymnast – all of which have culminated into Mak3 Activewear.
Disillusioned from buying poor fitting leotards at exorbitant prices, one final look at her daughter’s wedgie following an early attempt at a tumbling line led to an ‘aha’ moment where she realized….”Hey! I can totally make that!” That was just about 5 years ago. With the moral, emotional and financial support of her husband, a little bit of investment in time (okay…a lot), and extensive revisions on pattern designs, she's developed a line of gym-proven leotards that help kids train hard – and look great doing it (not picking wedgies!).
Since then she's grown more than she ever could have imagined 5 years ago. She's added a line of Mak3 training shorts that are great for gym, dance, and cheer and she's outfitted a number of teams with custom-designed competitive leotards and warm-up suits.
Kerri started out selling her leotards in the pro-shop of her local gymnastics club and am now in five locations across her Province in Canada in addition to her two online stores.
Never one to leave well enough alone (and her constant need to indulge her ‘ inner-bit-o-crazy’) she is now adding rhinestone/rhinestud designs to her leotards that has actually branched into a second company, Bling! It On Apparel & Appliques, run by her husband, that specializes in designing bling appliques and blinged clothing for kids.
Like many small creative businesses, growing Mak3 Activewear, has been both challenging and a labour of love for Kerri. But nothing makes her happier than seeing a little one wearing a Mak3 leo and being a gymnastics rockstar! Self-employment does have some seriously great benefits!

It has been such a fun opportunity for my girls and myself to work with Kerri. If both my girls continue with gymnastics {which it kinda looks like they will}, I'm going to be relying on Kerri's help in creating each of them their leotards as they continue to grow. She is so helpful with the process of selecting the perfect leotard and getting it to be just the right size.
There is a very handy size chart on her website that you'll want to be sure to check out before ordering. I was very pleased with how well the girls' leotard's fit them all the way around and the extra length is so nice - not only for comfort, but for proper fitting around their bottoms. My girls are able to focus on their skills rather than worry about constantly adjusting their leo's. A very huge thank you to Kerri for graciously allowing us to review your amazing activewear.
